Heli-skiing

Fun for non-skiers (Snowshoeing/ Winter Hiking / Tobogganing)

If you feel confident enough on your ski, why don’t you give heli-skiing a try?

Being the only place in Austria where you can enjoy heli-skiing Lech Zurs offers the slopes of the Mehlsack (“The Flour Sack”) and Schneetäli (“Snow Valley”) peaks where you will enjoy fantastic powder snow while being surrounded by stunning views. In both rides it will take an hour approximately to reach the picturesque village of Zug.

It is recommended that you book directly at any ski school since you will need the company of a trained ski and mountain guide.

Tobogganing

Within the village of Wald you can enjoy the toboggan near the old train station (illuminated). Other nearby options are the 2 kilometres long toboggan at Sonnenkopf (open daily from 8:45 until 16:00) and the path from the Großtobel tunnel to the center of Klosterle. Both Sankt Anton and Lech offer well maintained and illuminated toboggan runs for the whole family.

Use of toboggans is free and sleds can be rented at any sport shop in the valley.

Winter Hiking & Snowshoeing

From the Muttjochle tour in Sonnenkopf to the Oberlech to Skyspace (a walk-in art installation by James Turrell) in Lech, the vast array of cleared and marked paths in the region offer a great opportunity to relax while enjoying fresh air and outstanding mountain views.

There is as well the option of renting snowshoes to discover wonderful snow covered landscapes and explore the untouched nature of the Arlberg and Klostertal valleys. Guided routes can be hired in Sankt Anton and Lech.
